urgent: negative battery cable causes car to honk

urgent: negative battery cable causes car to honk

i just took off the negative battery cable, only to realize that the replacement i bought is the wrong size.

i tried to put it back on but when the cable touches the battery, the car just honks. the manual says to take the negative off first and put it off last. i did not even touch the positive cable yet.

what do i do?

okay i just removed the positive and reconnected the negative just fine. but upon contact with the battery, the positive cable makes the car alarm go off.

tis normal. Get your remote ready to disarm it when you connect the battery. disconnecting your battery will do nothing but clear your radio stations and possably re-set your ecu.

thanks! that alarm scares the **** out of me each time i hear it. its so damn loud.
