Default VSS location? + small TB question.

I just noticed on my list of parts for auto to manual swap a "VSS"

Do I need a manual VSS for this swap? And if so, how do I check if my manual transmission has a VSS already? I have the transmission in the garage but I have no idea what to look for to check if I have a VSS

While I'm at it, what are my limits for a TB/ sensors/ iacv interchangability for my IM? I have a bare 00 EX IM sittin at work, what are the limits on the interchangable TB/ IACV? I see 2 92-95 IACV for 45/50 on ebay so I'm wondering if I can use that? Is there a difference between obd1 and obd2 TB sensors or can I just grab any d16 TB?

The VSS is a plug sticking out of the top of the tranny.

I have no idea what you're talking about by limits...

what are my range of interchangable sensors/ IACVs? I got a guy wit ha D16Z6 Manual TB, sensors, and IACV. The only problem is the Z6 was obd1, so i'm curious if the Z6 sensors will work with my obd2 y8 ECU/ wiring? And is the z6 TB as good as the y8 tb?

The VSS is the sensor on the top of your trans. You need a manual VSS for a manual trans, an auto VSS for an auto trans.

If your doing a swap into a 92-95 then you dont have to worry about the IAC at all cause there already 2wire in both auto and manual. Now if you have a 96-00 you will need to convert to 2 wire (unless if your a DX). For your 00ex manifold you may want to cover up those holes on the flange for the air injection if your running any head between 92-98. Now if your running 99-00 head then dont worry about it. Also make sure that theres 2 big holes on the back of the manifold close to where the throttle body is, if you dont see any holes then you have an auto manifold and you wil need to drill them to make the IAC work correctly.

yeah, i read your writeup (and have it saved) for my auto - manual swap. It's a 00 EX, which is why I have a 00 EX IM. Damn stupid extra nipple. Anyways, so the OBD1 sensors will work fine? Just 2 wire convert it and it's good to go?

An obd1 IAC sensor will work just fine.
