Default Mini Me Help, I Think All My Parts Are Wrong

I bought a Vtec head off of ebay but it doesnt say Vtec on it but it has the soleniod and stuff on the side. Could someone have sold me a Vtec-E and sold it to me as a Vtec, like do the Vtec-E's have the word Vtec on the head??? Also I got a P28 ECU and I'm thinking that maybe its and for an auto and not a manual. Is there anyway to check this out? I need some answers ASAP so any help would be much apprecaited, I can't keep getting rides to work. Thanks In Advance for any help.

the ECU sticky in this forum will help you tell the diffrence between a manual or auto, if not... http://www.pgmfi.org

the valve cover doesnt necessarily say "vtec" on it....pull the cover off and take a pic of the rocker assembly

edit: look for the code stamped on the head, P08, P07 etc etc

rule of thumb with ecu's is that if the last 2 digits are 49 or lower, it is a manual ecu. 50 or higher is an automatic. yours should read something like 37820-P28-A**, where the ** is under 50.

as for the head, what motor did it supposedly come off of? z6 or y8?

Y8 heads=HONDA written on it.
Z6 Heads=Some valve covers only have honda logo on them, some have vtec written straight across. If the code of the head has P08, its a z6 head.
DX/CX Head=No VTEC solenoid, saids 16 valve/8-valve on the valvecover.
VX Head=Not sure about VX heads with VTEC-E, never seen them before, but if its not the ones above, its a VX head.

It will run fine with an automatic ECU, it will just give you a CEL. You can open it and make two small changes inside and that will convert it to manual.
