for the time being im putting a mini me into my 94 dx hatch can do i need a different harness than the dx one ? using a p28 ecu if that matters

 

No, if its a manual harness, but you still need to connect the vtec wires all the way to the ecu because your car is not prewired for vtec. I think its not prewire, not certain about it being prewired.

What I know:
92 civics are prewired, 92-95 civic si/exs are prewired also. VX civic is prewired but needs different o2 sensor wire. DX has the right O2 sensor, but no vtec wires. 93-95 regular civics (CX/DX) are not prewired for vtec.
