Stock ITR cams and Cam gears TUNING
i have a 00 itr with arc intake, jdm header and a test pipe, fully built head and thinner head gasket idk what to do next to keep it stock looking....i just got some cam gears is there hp to be gained on stock itr cams or is it just for show...whats the rule of thumb on tuning the cams how many degrees would you recommend for this mild street build ne suggestions ? thanks
1) there are some nominal gains (couple to a few whp) to be gained tuning a stock car with cam gears.
2) a thinner head gasket would also mean that the cams are no more at what would even be considered the "stock" settings because of the decreased distance between the crank timing belt gear/pulley, and the cam gear (pulleys/gears).
So yes, in my humble opinion some cam gear "tuning/adjustment" (with the help of dyno runs or other objective measures of performance), would be beneficial in your situation.
