I love my 06 LX V6, but my Saab kicks it's A**
Like the subject says, I have an 06 LX V6 Accord that I love, but it just seems slow as as hell compared to my Saab which is an 02 9-5 Linear that is a direct injection turbo with "only" 185 hp @ 5,500 rpm and 207 pounds of torque @ 1900 rpm. When I bought the Saab a few months ago I thought that the Accord would spank it for sure, especially with a 60 horse advantage, but I have been proven wrong. Plus I have ordered a stage 2 ecu for the Saab that will kick the HP up to 240 HP @ 5700 rpm and the torque will be 290 ft @ 1800 rpm. All that for only $680. When I looked to get that much of an upgrade with my honda it was going to cost some big bucks. I can get an additional 40+ HP and 50 ft of torque if I upgrade the exhaust and get a bigger diam downpipe. I love tech which I know that Honda guys do too, I would seriously not look past an older model Saab if someone wants to build a hell of a stop light killer, nobody would see it coming
Just wait until that saab breaks down and you'll be shelling out the big bucks to get it back to the stoplight dragstrip. Then you'll 'sob' big time.
I worked on euro imports for a year and every tech in the shop tried to dodge working on those nitemares whenever possible.
The electrical system was designed by a dope smoker, that was trying crack for the first time.
To put it mildly, you couldn't chase me fast enough to GIVE me a Saab!!

The upgrades aren't totally bs. Maybe a little optimistic, but the new Saabs use an Ecotec-based motor that loves to boost. And you should definatly look out for a hot rodded Saab! If you line up with it the Saab may torque-steer and punt you into a ditch
Now if you want some real Saabs, go play with an old classic 900. That one actually was made by the people who make jets. If you don't believe it, just open the hood and look at the wierd chassis/motor/everything else
<=== kind of misses his old '88 900. 8v k-jet FTW!!!

lets see what the performance number are shall we?
the Areo model is 250hp so it should be on par with the accord but there is no way that the linear model is faster since the wights are close enough (3530 for the saab and an average of 3385 for the accord)
150lbs less plus 60hp = faster car
I find it funny that the areo is .8 sec slower (7.2 versus 6.5) than a car that weighs only 15lbs less and has only 10hp more (a CL type S auto) and 1.3 seconds slow to 60 than a CL type S with a manual.....
I guess based upon what you think and upgrade is, a CL type S is a kick *** upgrade from a saab 9-5....lol over 300hp with an intake and headers....lol.....

flexible chassis ftw
who cares if they are aircraft engineer? my honda started and still make motorcycle today, do you want a choke on your accord?
it's all boil down to taste, to me older saab looks like an ****

In regards to the hits on Saab for reliability the Honda hasn't been a champ yet. I have had the car since May and it has been to the dealer 4 freakin times already. First for the alt killing the batt, then the next two times for interior pieces just falling apart, then the power steering pump. And the claims are not bs about performance. I had a friend driving my auto accord and I was in the Saab which is also a 5 sp auto. We took off from a dead stop and my Honda was never able to pull ahead. And to let you know the only differences between the 2.3 HO in the aero and the low pressure in the linear is in the ecu and hotter NGK plugs in the aero. Torque steer is a b*t*h, but Hondas that actually have some torque get it bad too. If you would like to see to beleive you should go up to the tail of the dragon one weekend and i'll let you see what i'm talkin about
I was there labor day weekend and I had a blast racing with a 93 NSX and a boosted 98 Civic.
