nope you gotta use a z6 or a y8 timing belt...y7 timing belts are different...meaning the teeths on the timing belt...

why dont u try it? if your motor gets messed up badly, or u just end up wasteing a few hours for nothing if its too big or too small.. then you can ask yourself.. is it really worth the 30 dollars or so, u would spend too get the CORRECT timing belt? and do it ONCE?

some people never learn.. skimp or try too shortcut measly costs.. end up paying ten times or more in repairs after that shortcut fails

y7 and y8 belt are the same. z6 may be different, but i've never tried it.

to OP, are you just changing the belt on your z6, or did you do a head swap?

i did the head swapi put a z6 on a y7 block.. i have the belt thats not that issue at all.. the problem is me being able to get the crank pully off...i want to kno if its nessassary or not.. and the belt DOES fit on the gear.. but there is a one tooth difference i think but wouldnt it be ok to use my y7 cam gear?

the Y7 belt has too many teeth, and changing cam gears won't help. you won't have the right belt tension, it'll be out of time a bit, you'll have premature belt failure, and risk bending a valve, so enough people have told you the correct way to do it....so go ahead and use the Y7 belt, while your at it pour some metal shavings in your crankcase, and drain all your coolant and replace it with maple syrup.

380whp and you run a 12.3? What are you towin a boat when you run? Might have something to do with the fact the your timing belt has more give than the pillsbury doughboys belly when you poke it......
