I'm having issues starting the car. I just bought it from my friend, and I just can't get it to go. I just put in a new battery. We tested for fuel to the motor. There was nothing. So I replaced the fuel pump and fuel was going to the engine. I did the main relay check, and I hear 3 clicks (searched from forums), so i assume that's working. My friend said he just changed parts in the distributer about 6 months ago. The ecu does make a noise when I turn the car on. I'm not sure what that is or if it's significant. I just started the car today on the first try after not being able to start it on Monday. However, once i drove it to the destination, I could not get it to start again.

 

so it will crank but not start up?

 

If it doesnt crank, check the starter. Mine went bad out of nowhere.
If it does crank, check for spark and compression.

 

It cranks, but it doesn't turn. It only started one time. If the car started, shouldn't the starter be okay? How do I check for compression? I was going to change out spark plugs soon.

 

Check the dizzy, I had the exact same problem and that was it.

 

I changed the sparks today.. It wouldn't start.. I added some gas.. and miraculously.. it started. However, once it stopped, it wouldn't start again. Do you think the distributor is still bad? The ecu is also beeping 6 times when i turn it on.. I'm sure that code means something.

 

check to see if the wire on the starter came unpluged. it looks like a speaker wire. also check your starter fuse
