get a new motor. year build must be newer or same as your car (98+ B16A, most likely a B16A2 from an Si) you also need Evap Purge Solenoid, coal canister, intake manifold must be stock B16A or CARB-EO certified equivalent, headers must have O2 flanges and have heat shield present, and to finish it off you must have the OBD2 P2T ECU from a 99/00 Si. with that type of work I'd say use this change to pick up a B18C1 swap and make it BAR legal.

Sure... use an OBD2 distributor, re-install the EVAP system, second o2 sensor again, and use an OBDII P30. You'll pass. Assuming they don't realize that the motor is older than the car itself.

your not going to use a obd2a-obd2b harness, your going to use a obd2 harness becuase you need a obd2a motor in that car,
you have an obd1 he was reffering to converting the motor to obd2a meaning, u need a dizzy, another o2 sensor and o2 sensor bung,

F all that crap and just pay the ticket it only gonna be like 450 dollars, you will spend more than that trying to get your car to pass ref, never go to ref and just pay the ticket /thread

I would rather pay that little more for the parts for it to pass and become legal than to give california some more of my hard earned cash. And hopefully I won't spend more than $450 on parts to pass b/c I plan on selling my obd1 stuff and use that cash to pick up the stuff I need.
Right now I have a couple parts lined-up for me to pick up:
Stock b16a2 header
P2T ecu
Stock EK airbox
Besides an obd2 intake manifold and dizzy, what else am I missing?

yea its an sir2 obd1, but can't i convert it to a obd2? and how would the ref know the year of the motor? I don't even know the exact year.

Serial number shows year of motor im sure. But you should ask ref first if you can convert to obd2, because there is always a way for a ref to find out if ur trying to expletive him over.
engine has to be 98 + , and no matter what ur engien isnt 98+
sell me the engine.

dont waste ur time trying to convert ur motor to obd2
since ur car is a 98
you have to have a 98+ motor
Theres no way around that!
If you wanna stick with a b16
Look for a b16a2
The longblocks are cheap & easy to come by...

i guess i'll be trying to sell or trade my motor for a us spec. what would I need to do to my wiring and everything else to make a b16a2 work in my car. keep in mind i bought the car as is and thats why i'm asking questions like that. Thanks to everyone though.
