Default question about thicker oil..

im currently using 5w30 mobil1 fully synthetic oil, but my motor is burning the oil.. if i were to switch to thicker oil, 10w30, will motor stop burning oil? or reduce the amount that is burning? is there any truth to this?

thicker oil could result in valves knocking. why dont you just find out why it is burning the oil?
