When I get into upper RPM's it sounds like something is bouncing around in my tranny. I know my ISB (the one that makes noise when clutch is out right?)is getting ready to go, so I'm thinking maybe it's just that jumping around in there.
I only notice it in 1st-2nd-3rd gears. Sometimes it does it, sometimes not.

the only bearings that are exclusive to 1st & 2nd gears are the needle bearings which seldomly fail.
when you say 1st & 2nd, do you mean high rpms of 1st & 2nd or do you mean any time while in 1st & 2nd.
my alternator had a bad bearing for a while. I used to think it was my trans or engine. I then rebuilt the trans and put another engine in with the same alternator and the problem persisted. are you SURE that it's in the trans?

when you are parked, engine is running, shifter is in neutral, and the clutch pedal is not pressed. the mainshaft on the transmission is spinning, throwout bearing is doing nothing. If you hear the noise then, then it's something in the trans or the engine.
whenever you do press the clutch, it takes a few seconds for the trans to stop spinning. trans in neutral, engine running, clutch to the floor, if you continue to hear the noise, it's the throwout bearing or pilot bearing.</TD></TR></TABLE>

Well, it seems to be in higher rpms, but once it's going it seems to stay going as long as I'm in that gear. Should I just replace my alternator anyway? Easy trial fix?
