The difference is, the 215 is 10mm wider, with a slightly larger total diameter.
Use the correct size for your car though, which should be a 205/45-16 for a 00 Civic Si.

So what 16" tire size do you think is recommended then huh?

Both 205/45/16 and 215/45/16 give you the closest to stock diameter (195/55/15) which preserves the odometer and speedometer readings. 215/45/16 has very very limited choices for tires and are overpriced so go with 205/45/16 which has a much wider selection of tires.

You can use either size - 205/45-16 or 215/45-16 - on an Integra or '97-00 Civic. 205/45 is slightly smaller in diameter than stock, and 215/45 is slightly bigger, but both are within 1 percent of the stock outer diameter.

Most tires are available in 205/45-16 or 215/45-16, not both. So decide on what kind of tire you want to get, and then see what size it comes in. For example, if you want to get the Kumho Ecsta SPT summer tire (great combination of performance and value), or the Kumho Ecsta ASX all-season tire, then you should get 205/45-16, because that's the size they come in. If, OTOH, you want to get the supersticky (but fast-wearing) Falken Azenis RT-615 summer tire, then you should get 215/45-16, because that's the size it comes in.

It's difficult to mount 195/55-15 tires if you have 16-inch wheels.

a 215 is quite wide; if he's lowered it will probably rub.

205 means 205mm wide, 215 means 215mm wide
