Default ITR got tuned - first dyno ever - 180.2 whp - vid and pics

Well, I am pretty damn happy - just got back from Zensport, where we tuned the ITR. JUST using a fpr and vafc2, we got roughly 15 whp!imp:

The car is insanely fast now. It sounds beautiful, and is sooo snappy. :D :D

aaaaaaand, a video

Your spark plug wires are huge! Just as thick as your grounding strap.

I thought spoon wires are blue? I know I have a set that are...

Not only are they red and the spoon ones are blue, but I don't see any grounding straps coming off of those wires!

This must all be in your imagination, bc:

1. ITRs just aren't "insanely" fast....

and

2. 15whp is not going to be a jaw dropping increase

Glad to hear you are having fun driving the car though

Good job Andy. A couple questions though.

Did you/your tuner adjust the cam gears at all?
Are you still using the stock redline even with the Skunk2 valvetrain?

I dont think so. This seems way too high to me. For a Dyno Dynamics dyno anyway. Did you increase the values 15% to be comparable to the dynojet? that would would seen right in my mind.

My car just put down 188 hp on a dyno dynamics and I have 7 psi on a jackson racing charger. if you increase that 15% it came to be 217, and i have a printout of both of those charts..... sounds like it was increased to me.

Whoa there, killer!

A 15whp increase can be major, if it's in the right spots.

Take my car for example. I went from running 14.0's on slicks to 13.1's with 15whp increases.

Thanks for all the responses I'll try to answer the questions:

1. Sorry for the typo, I meant she has Spoon Camgears and Crane Cams plug wires. (double insulated, no gnd strap)

2. She is deadly quick for me - and I can DEFINATELY feel the difference on the road. Remember, I came from a 94 civic w/104bhp haha. We increased the tq, and straightened out the hp curve too - got rid of a couple nasty dips.

3. I honestly dont know about the 15% - I will check with my tuner to see.

4. We didnt touch the cam gears at all, is there any benefit w/stock itr cams? We just tuned w/the fpr and vafc2.

5. The redline is still stock, even though it feels like it keeps wanting to go higher. Is there anyway to increase the redline on a stock ecu? (I only have the vafc2 on it atm)

Yes i am having fun... maybe a little too much... i had the biggest ****-eating grin last night, all night... :D

back to your post... nice numbers, nice car. 15whp with just a dyno tune has me wondering about my motor...

I'd question your tuner a little bit if they didn't even try to experiment with the camgear settings. There's usually gains to be had with almost any cam.

There is no way to go beyond the stock redline on the stock ecu. Your next step may be to consider ditching the VAFC for an OBDI conversion.

oh and ****-eating grin fTW

Ftw? heh - http://en.wikipedia.org/wiki/FTW

What tis that?

I dont question my tuner at all - I know him personally. He gave me a great deal, and did an awesome job... we just didnt have the time to go into the cam timing. I need to cut the top off too so we dont have to remove the valve cover everytime to make a change....

for TeH WiN!!

find a beat up twincam cover and chop that instead of your OE cover, unless you do the mooncuts which is something I personally like

Cool, thanks for the advise. I like the mooncuts idea. Would any metal shop be able to do that properly for me do you think?

I have my cam gears set at +3intake and -1exhaust(I think) and my tuner said it made a difference on the stock ITR cams.

As for increasing the revlimit, I've seen peeps do it with stock valvetrain and stock cams up to 9K. I was/am a little weary about that so I left mine alone. It would be nice though. I bounce off the revlimit at T9 at PR and it's a ****-off sometimes .
