Just FINLLY got my engine and EVERYTHING to go ahead and throw it in this afternoon. Well I was installing the clutch when I ran into a LITTLE BIGproblem. I was installing the Tilton clutch and as I was installing it I forgot to throw in the pilot bearing. Went down to AutoZone and picked one up. Got back home and threw it in the block and when I went to throw the Tilton Flywheel over the pilot bearing I noticed something wasnt measuring up right! T pilot bearing fits perfect inside the block/crank and is WAY too BIG in diameter for the Tilton flywheel. So I took everything BACK apart and took the Tilton flwheel and the pilot bearing itself and the bearing was a tad bit bigger BUT wouldnot budge t fit inside the flywheel side.
My question is this...I paid topdollar for a clutch and it didnt even come with a throwout bearing or a pilot bearing! Not only that, the Tilton flywheel doenst even fit right! Im not mad...just frutrated! Thats all! lol
So I ahve 2 thoughts on my mind:
1: Take the Tilton flywheel to a local machine shop and have them machine it to fit properly and the pilot fits!
.................................................. .......................................
2. Or sell it. lol....Just KIDDING!
If anyone has had these problems then plese let me know. Im REALLY frustrated right now!
Also 1 more question. With Tilton Flywheels. Is there ANY differences in their b-series flywheels? What I mean is...If they send me a flywheel for a b18b (ls engine) then would it be different from the b18c1 (gsr) one???</TD></TR></TABLE>
Hi cuin9sec: If it was me, I would want the customer to call me and let me know what was going on with the product. If you do not call, they will never know. Be nice when you make the call and your concerns. It could be that one out of a 1,000 made and you got it. If the company will not make it right for you and it's a simple fix, then go get it done and move on to the next project.

my bet is its a cheap autozone part that's wrong. since this is a 9 second car, i wouldn't cheap out and buy autozone parts, i'd run to honda and get an OEM bearing. if that doesn't fit, call Tilton and ask them what's up.
FYI, all b-series pilot bearings are the same.

Waaahhhh. Welcome to the game of trying to get a highly modified car finished. Set backs happen. Get the right part from Honda and stop stressing. I never had an issue with the OEM pilot bearings not fitting in their flywheels.

Am i the only one who presses a pilot bearing in the flywheel before i put the flywheel on the crank? If you take an oem honda flywheel and an oem honda pilot bearing and try and install it like that it still won't go in right.

haha, didn't notice that he didn't put the pilot bearing on first, how do you build a 9 second car and not know to put bearing on flywheel first?
