How often I mess with my pump I made an access plate that bolts on with a sealed lid to bolt back on, But its not that bad dropping the tank... I can show you exactly where if you want to
the hardest thing about dropping the tank is finding something to hold the gas you drain out.

how do you lift the pump out?
does the hb pump have the same 16-18" of ridgid tubing mounted to the tank.
I would need to remove the entire area from the back of seats to the spare well in order to pull the pump from the top in my 91 crx

Yes the hardline is there but with the area I cut out I am able to squeeze it in and out, Yea the cargo box does need to come out along with the back folding peice...

ok
I just hope I put in a pump of high enough quality that I dont need to cut the floor out of my cargo area to get to it repetitively

I have the tank out of my 90 CRX HF now. I've wondered about cutting an access hatch
as this is the second time. The OEM pump stuck and I got it free the first time as it was sitting in the garage too much between driving it on trips. I use my 87 HF around town most of the time. There are Advanced Auto and Auto Zone stores where I live and they offer Major and Bosch pumps. The Bosch is $200 bucks and the major is $ 130.
Anyone else had experience with pumps or less expensive sources to buy fuel pumps ?
I'm also looking for sources for a front left fender on the 87 HF as a guy slid into it when it was parked in front of the house and there was about an inch of snow on the street.
Didn't hurt it much but the fender shattered.
I've even thought about using one of those Major(brand) universal high pressure pumps remoted to the outside of the tank to pump thru the OEM pump left in the tank not working. I'd have to jumper the wires to it and get some fuel injection hose to re-route the fuel lines to the new pump location. When I checked the spec's the OEM pumps delivered 55psi and the universal put out 47psi. But with it being an EFI I'm left wondering if it takes 55psi for the injectors if the fuel rail is regulated at 35psi. I wonder if those ratings are just surge pressures ? Either way the universal pump is $72 dollars and the hose/clamps perhaps another $9. It sure would beat the present arrangement having a quick change pump that could be fixed in 10 minutes once set up this way. This would be more like my old 76 Accord's set up.
Any thoughts ?
