basically, the bike is in good mechanical shape, but has a few cosmetic blemishes (would make a great starter bike).
having trouble getting pictures working for now, email me: tharptroy at gmail.com
-50+ mpg (I've been getting between 49-54)
-pretty good around town (better, dare I say, than my new 600)
I bought it from a college student on august 18, 2006. it had about 15,200 miles when I got it.
the seller said that he had replaced the tires, battery and oil within 1 month of selling the bike to me.
the oil looked good when I got it, and I took it up to highway speed for a test run. no unusual noises, vibrations, etc.
since I planned on keeping this bike, and I cant NOT work on anything for very long, I went straight to work on it.
at 15290 miles, I replaced the factory exhaust with a muzzy single exhaust.
-The installation of the pipe requires removal of the centerstand, I still have the original center stand and bolts.
at about 15,350 I used half a bottle of sea foam in the gas to clean out any deposits in the carb
at 15,490
-I replaced the stock air filter with a K&N
-slightly modified the airbox to keep the engine from starving at higher rpm.

-Thorougly degreased chain with O-ring safe degreaser (got from a bike shop) and re-lubed.
-Adjusted chain tension to within specs
-changed spark plugs
-changed oil and filter with Amsoil motorcycle 10W-40 and EaOM103 filter
-repaired oil filter threads (I guess the previous owner messed them up)
-also noticed that it has a 150 rear tire. the tire was starting to rub the plastic chain guard and was dangerously close to rubbing a metal tab that "holds" the back side of the chain cover.
-trimmed the back side of the chain cover and removed the bracket to prevent a potential hazard.
16,000 miles
-lubed chain and checked tension
the bike is now at around 16,200 miles.
today I replaced the front brake pads with EBC pads. (hit the rotors with 120 grit sandpaper and cleaned with brake cleaner to remove "glazing" from previous pads so that the new ones could seat properly)
and while I was out breaking in the new pads so that they would be seated correctly, the clutch cable snapped, (I'll be replacing that tomorrow, lol)
so there it is, overall its in pretty good shape. obviously its no show stopper, but it certainly runs well.
as for starting, it needs to be choked for about 10 seconds depending on how cold it is outside.
when the bike is cold, you'll notice a "flat spot" in the powerband around 4,000 rpm.
this is probably a result of the exhaust and new air filter. I purchased a dynojet jet kit, but after reading the forums, it seems that typically re-jetting just moves the flat spot around in the powerband.
