Default My RHD EK9 conversion project (before and after pics!)

Im posting this up for my friend Kris who just completed his rhd ek conversion. Alot of hard work and planning was put in this project.Im not going to get in to full detail, just a lil run through. If you have questions about it hit him up on myspace myspace.com/jdmkris

This is the clip he got for around $600 its a EK4 SIR II

Here is the donor clip which will be going into the white EK pictured in the back round.

Here is the begining-removal of the dash

Dash removed exposing the firewall

Now here is the firewall out on the patient car (LHD) all the spotwelds about atleast 100 were drilled but to make this easier he used a plasma cutter he rented at Bunce tool rental or any tool rental place for $50.00. And pretty much use the spot welds he removed to trace removal of the firewall alot easier with the plasma cutter.
Blurry pics of the fire wall out

Damn this is going to be alot of work lol

Now for the donor car (RHD clip) to get the same treatment

got it all traced on the firewall for drilling the spotwelds and plasma cuting.

Now with the firewall out heres how the fitment of the donors firewall in.

Front firewall

Gaps all filled and chaulk up and painted flat black

GSR Motor in

All the interior pieces back in

NIIICCEE

And now the finished product

don't take this the wrong way, but why go to all that effort and end up just flat-blacking the engine bay? Kinda seems like you're skimping.....clean that sucker up.........besides that, pretty ghetto, but effective......

good work. I would never have the patience for something in that manner. I would have to just pay for it already completed. Lazy me (shame)

A lot of work to just sit on the other side of the car. But hey, props for a good looking outcome.

I like everything except not painting the bay. I know how it feels to do so much work and get so close you skimp out on some stuff but Ive learned its really worth it to do it right and make it look good while its easiest. I would have hid all the wires and cleaned up the engine bay too. But it looks great in the end, I might do it someday if I ever have the time and resources

Why didn't you do a CLEAN firewall swap, like full wall from each car? Just wondering, time issue or something? I just don't like the idea of hacking the firewall and bastardizing another one on top.

I just wanted to add something else.

The whole idea of a RHD conversion in my books is to make people think that you're driving a RHD car and that what you've built came out the factory like that. If I had to do a LHD conversion for the same effect, then I'd get everything working as it would on a RHD car.

The success of a swap is in the small details.....

all that just to drive on the wrong side... good luck going through the drive thru.
j/k i've always wanted to say that.
i really want to do this with my 98 coupe but i had a hard time finding a clip, so i stopped looking. where did he get his?
every time i see one done it really makes me want to do it. i have a 90 crx and a 98 civic. i almost did the crx. after seeing the pics i think i will, but where can i get a clip for an ek? i don't need the motor just the other ****

This conversion took a week...compare to months. For all you haters...i'm sorry you dont have a RHD EK, get photos taken while driving ur car... by random people with cell phone cameras!, get interviewed daily, and have about 80% people that dont know any thing about hondas ask where did this car come from ect Japan, England, Germany.....
I took a short cause of money ( spent before and after conversion), my only car, engine bay painted or buy real mugen exhaust hhhumm??...Mugen twin loop exh.!!!
is it worth it???...only if you want to feel like a celeberity!! hehe
who ever wrote Getto???...I want to see ur car...only RHD EK in Washington...enought said...thanks to all reply(s) both negative and postive!

no offense but you really overlooked a lot of small details and i honestly dont think your going to be as satisfied with it as you could be.https://honda-tech.com/zerothread?id=1750344 my project is already on 2 months but i think the end result will speek for itself.. maybe one day youll decide to go back get it cleaned up a lil more
