Another totalled or not ?
My friend recently suprised me and came home with a py itr that he flew out to colorado to get. I Then tell him how these cars are stolen alot and yada yada yada. He comes over today and says he crashed it already(not even having it 2 weeks yet) and asks me to come up to his house to check out the damage. When i get there he then tells me he only put liability on it.
When i took off the wheel that smashed in the upper control arm looked like a U and the lower tore the lower subframe to pieces, when i looked in the spare tire well everything was creased and bent. Also there is a 1 inch gap between the passenger door and rear quarter. I def think another R is gone.
Question is damage beyond thinking of repairing?

This is the only pic he sent me

well i also mentioned to him why not buy a shell.... he bought the car for 13k and i asked him is the car really worth 23k if the damage is that much and then mentioned how much a shell may cost and he was leaning towards that

I was hoping with prices hovering around the $15k mark, + or -, that as ITRs got older, it would be more difficult to secure a loan on them. Do banks do car loans on 6+ year-old cars that much? Maybe it's credit unions or something *shrug*
Want to see stories of youth & car wreckage? Visit the my350z forums sometime. It's almost comical.. literally, I go there sometimes to read the "I totaled my Z" and "I passed on the shoulder at 100+ and wrecked" stories. You'll always find one near the top of the front page.

Banks are getting much less willing to loan the money for an ITR, but many banks still will if you have good credit or for an insane finance charge.

that is definitely fixable. the term "totalled" usually refers to the point at which the insurance company decides it is more economical to pay the owner for the value of the car instead of paying for the repairs. since this person did not have collision, that term is being missused by some people. if you aren't referring to whether or not the insurance company is paying for it, but instead just referring to whether or not the damage is fixable, then no, this is nowhere near "totalled." pain in the *** and expensive, but repairable. if he had collision insurance to go through, then it could be considered totalled by the insurance company.

I do not recommend this at all. Until he learns how to drive a high performance vehicle, I'd suggest he not damage/destroy any more clean ITRs. If he's serious about becoming a responsible ITR owner, he should fix this one up. Putting blood, sweat, tears, and $$ into fixing heR up may drive out the carelessness that obviously overwhelmed him in the minutes before he wrecked.
2 weeks, goddamn
