Engineer Wanted in Socal
Hey guys, I'm currently working for a company called Spectre Performance as a design engineer. We design and sell performance parts and have a need for another design engineer. We're in Ontario, California so it'll help if you're local. e-mail me your resume if you're interested pilunc @ spectreperformance.com (remove the spaces). I'm posted it here because interest/participation in road racing/autox-ing would be a major plus. Recent grads with BS Engineering and current seniors getting thier degree soon are all welcome.

Are you sure???
I used to design performance engine parts and just got out of the industry. Talk about a jump up in pay!! You better love it, cause they pay you like crap. Especially in SoCal, where the cost of living isn't so good.

well id much rather do something in the auto industry with my degrees, then work for some engineering firm or ssomething, but if i cant do that, ill always keep it as a hobby
Considering that we spend half our lives working, I'd say it's big plus to actually enjoy what you do. I can promise you that if you're a car geek, working in the performance industry is worth it. My friends that went into Raytheon or other defense or aerospace companies hate it. Plus the conventions are totally more awesome, like SEMA in Vegas.

I thought so, but after working in the industry for 7 1/2 years, I'm out and happy. You get burned out on the not being appreciated part eventually.
I spent the last 5 years at SEMA, and did miss it this year, but I'm enjoying my big fat check!

Haha....that's a very open ended question. Mechanical Engineers perform so many different functions. I've done QC, research, project management, design engineering, testing, fabricating prototypes.
Just check out monster.com and do a search for mechanical engineering and see all the jobs available. You can go into any industry that needs some kind of engineering work done.
