1st off, you shouldnt be driving without insurance... since it wasnt ur fault maybe nothing will happen, because no money will be coming out of you're pocket or an insurance companies.. first thing you should do is get insurance asap

Don't worry.

You need to call HIS insurance company file a claim. Once they get his statement, they will come out and appraise your car. Then you take it to a place and have it fixed and his insurance will pay for it.

If the officer on the scene didn't give you a ticket then your scott free. Its his insurance company that is at fault because they insure him and he hit you.

It may take just a little longer by going throuh his insurance company but your rates will not go up and you will not get in trouble for not having insurance. You can even get a rental car too if your going to be out of a car for a while. Again, this is all done THROUGH HIS INSURANCE, NOT YOURS.

EDIT......you can't get a rental car without insurance. And you have to be 25.

When you buy a car there is a 10 day grace period where your old insurance would cover the new car. But only when buying a car.

FYI....most people call their own insurance cause it is easier to deal with them and they will move quicker. Then they deal with fighting with the other persons insurance to get their money back.

Also because they are dumbasses and don't realize you should call the person's at faults insurance. Your rates will go up if you call your own insurance. Yes they will, when you renew your insurance every 6 months or year. If they don't raise it, you get put into a "risk" category and if you have tickets or accidents after that, your rates go WAY UP.

Don't ask why I know all this...bad teenage driving. Glad I got that out of my system when I was young.....
