speedometer on & off

speedometer on & off

my car 1990 accord speedometer stays zero and kicks in suddenly & some times
it evenly rises according to my speed works perfectly or I can say it randomly
quits working, can anyone give me suggestion.
meanwhile I did clean speed sensor but it did not help. I thank you in advance..

before you buy the sensor, take out the cluster, the little cable could be loose, when you taking it off, turn the cable to see if it's turning smoothly.

mine was coming loose and sometime it work and sometime it doesn't

and do I need any special instrument for removing the cluster.

BFH is the best tool LMAO ; phillips screw driver and tilt the steering wheel down.
