get better tires for grip and for sure you'll see some lower timeslips. tire pressure plays a big role going down the track also. Don't feel bad. You'll do better next time out because track conditions really makes a difference also. Goodluck.
dude i have a auto h23 prelude with header back obx, rebuilt to stock motor and tranny and pbm valves and i ran a 15.5 in the 1/4 mile for my first time.

Drifting is the way to go, lol............just kidding.
Practice practice and more practice will improve your time. All try different air psi, launchin, etc.
i have practiced...for years..i just cant launch FWD cars on street tires ...i have cut better 60's for sure...but street tires take some skill...
Don't dump your clutch, let it out slowly. Like you were just taking off from a stoplight normally.
Don't do it super slow, obviously, but don't dump it.
I cut a 2.2 60 ft. with street tires, slipping the clutch.

what were the track conditions like? It's good to get feedback from other drivers so you know how you compare.
The track conditions were either really bad, or you need some coaching.

Also your usually gonna go home dissapointed if you go to the track expecting to pull a 14.xxx or a specific time, base your success on your improvement throughout your runs.
and get that 60ft down. 2.2 is do-able wiht street tires.

Slicks, even drag radials are not needed on cars that run 15's. I'm sorry but you look funny throwing slicks on a car and running times equal to a new Honda Odyssey. It's obvious the person needs some practice at launching before he goes out and throws more parts at a car.

If he cuts .7 off of his 60' he will be in the 14's no prob, possibly mid 14's at that!

Not trapping 90mph he's not. The equation on the 60ft taking so much off the back half of the track doesn't work when your running that slow. He'll be lucky to break a 14.9 with that setup.

I pull 2.2 60 ft on camber worn tires by dumping the clutch. 18 psi, hot burnout and dumping at 4500. Sucks when you have a shitty clutch that you cant slip, slip it on purpose and it will start to slip all the time.

What rpm's were you dumping at? I've seen soo many times where people think they need to dump at 5 or 6k. Maybe on slicks, but not street tires. Last year i was able to lay down 1.9 60foots on khumo 712's turbo 15psi. The key was a stock clutch that actually was slipping just right. This year with my nice new clutch and some 90 degree heat i couldn't do much better then 2.2's You want to spin the tires some, but just enough to free it all up.
Back in the day when i was on other forums, some guy said something that a lot of people could learn from. The gas pedal is not an on off switch.
