Does it matter if an alternator was from an auto or a manual?

As the topic states.
I have a '97 ex and I was also wondering if any other alternators from other d series will work?

From other OBD2 Civics, yes.

well i got one from autozone and they never asked if my car was auto or manual....
would this be a problem?
