I finally got my hands on a Si gauge cluster for my EJ8 because the stock one stopped working. Anyways I had the seller adjust the mileage to match my stock ones and he messed the speedometer up. Now everytime I start the car the speedometer starts off at around 28mph instead of at 0. It falls down back to 0 when I turn the car off but everytime the car is on and moving its goes from 28 and up and i constantly have to subtract -28 from the current speed to see how fast I'm going

Anybody know how to fix this problem or will it cause just more mess if I try taking it apart.

I don't know of any way to re-zero the guage, but I can check my helms tonight.

I saw a post on here on how to reset the miles and put the needle back on. Don't know if it works cause I never did it.

Take the gauge cluster out and remove the cover over the gauges. Remove the speedo needle. Put the gauge cluster back in the car without the cover on it and start up the car. The speedo will be at 0 MPH. Replace the needle.

Also he had a little tip about placing the needle behind the stopper (where the needle rests at 0 MPH) then wedging it over it to make sure it has some tension and rests on the stopper when the gauge reads 0 MPH. It will prolly not be exact. most likely 1-2 MPH off or so. Good Luck.

the key will need to be set at "ON" position with motor off to correctly gauge. then, aim the needle about 5mph under 0 and most of the time that's the correct position. push the needle in. then, move the needle so it sits past the little peg. you should be accurate now. drive around and see.

 

i pretty much had it all taken apart yesterday but the needle wasnt coming out, do I really need to pull hard on it? i dont want to break it off

 

You ever get this resolved? I had the same issue with mine and reset it to zero. My Speedo is still about 10mph off.
