Default people with B17a motor. OR B17a head with B18c5 bottom end.

I'm looking to do this to my 92 gsr. I don't think the gains are going to be that great, but i'm looking for anyone that has attempted or has done this swap before. Reason i want to keep the B17a head on for now is because of a lack of the $. I think this would work out pretty nice and might be better than a b16a head.

Work i plan on doing would include.

Complete Type R bottom end.
Rebuilt B17a head with better internals ... havne't figured out what yet.
Shaved head .020 - .030 ... not sure what is going to work yet.
thinner head gasket
Toda Spec B cams
Toda cam gears
2.5" outlet header... not sure what kind yet
full 2.5" exhaust... also not sure what kind yet

I think thats about it for the motor as of now. I may come up with a few more things before it goes into the works.

What kind of possible power #s do the gurus of honda tech think i can get?
Will this even work if i put it together?

hook me up with some info if at all possible.

If you are going to shave your head, then I really don't think you need a thinner head gasket. I personally do not recommend shaving the head because you might run into clearance problem later on, and there's really no turning back... IMO you should up your CR by swapping in other pistons instead.

Which piston for which bottom end?
If you are using stock B18A bottom, then the B16A pistons should drop right in without any/little modification.

But if you choose to utilize the B18C5 bottom end, then the JDM ITR pistons or the B16B pistons should bump up your CR.

I think he is using a b18c5. If thats the case just use JDM ITR pistons that will get you a compression of 11.1.

More CT members !!! any way go with the itr bottom end because the b17 is harder to find parts for. Pistons depend on how serios and how muych you want to spend.. I have the wesico 12.5:1 popistons with eagle rods no probs

How Involved is the Hybrid w/ B17a 's Crank into the B20B (Jdm vtec b20?)???
It would seem that this setup would give ample Torque, midrange, and high rpm power due to its rod ratio. A b20 peaks lower than an ITR or CTR. So by destroking it, one can have the best of both worlds. Has anyone out there done this w/ the Jdm vtec b20 block before...How dificult? If it is a pain in the kiester and tons of $$$ I will just bore my b17a or swap for a b18c1 if someone will trade me?
