Anyone has heard any rumors why Skunk2 did not make a single appearance this past season? It would have been nice to see them line up with the clutch masters cars

 

They didnt race...

 

i remember someone saying they didnt have the money this year to fund the program.

 

They kinda claimed fame last season. So they sat back and concentrated on other things within the company to strengthen it. They are doing more of other "motorsports" related projects right now.

They were going to show up to Pomona but the motor let go the night before on the dyno.

They have a new engine program in the works for 2007.

Not sure if I can believe that.. they just sat back and concentrated on other things within the company to strengthen it... I mean I respect your opinion, but I would expect more from the B series cam kings.

I remember looking at a picture on tunerzine where behind Dr Charles, they have like 10 k series motors sitting... Hard to believe that they only had one motor going in the races..

Apparently as a skunk2 dealer, you have to defend them. I am looking for some skunk2 insider information why they missed this season. You never know, sometime on honda tech, some random dude registers and within the first 2-3 posts you get the truth... so I am hoping for that

 

They tried something new last year. They furnished motors to some sportsman racers for r&d.

Not sure why you don't believe him. Just call them and ask

Racing every year is expensive. For a rig like theirs it would be a $50,000+ travel bill for the season without parts. The cost of all their R&D in addition to the racing is huge. Why not sit back on the record for a season and make a little money?

What is wrong with sitting out a season?? A budget to run a whole season is ridiculous even with sponsor back up.

Maybe those 10 motors you saw in the background were for someone else

I know, I have been wondering the same thing all season. I only saw Dr Charles come out once for BOTI Fontana back in July. Running there Skunk2 K24A/K20 eP3, but since then I havent seen them out any where.

 

Maybe it is because they spent all of their time building that Fit for Street Tuner Challenge

 

Racing is very expensive and most of the companies in this industry have seen their sales numbers drop the last couple years.
