Default the 1 thing i DONT like about my SI

The Gas Gauge is so in accurate. i filled up the other day and reset my trip and i drove 41 miles with out losing 1 square so i told my friend since there is 20 squares i get 820 miles to the tank and thats 62 miles per gallon.(i wish).this is just 1 example but it never seems to go down normal it always hops and fools you on thinking you have more gas and then before you know it your on Empty...i get usually get around 300 miles to the tank

Just like on every Civic of the past if you fill it up the needle goes past the "Full" line and would stay till the fuel is down to the point where the float will start to register a loss of fuel then the gauge will register normal.

You can't expect a completely pinpoint accuate gauge when you have a 3000lb car with 15 gallons of gas bouncing around at 60mph on bumpy roads do you?

Just fill up at 300miles or less and stop bitching.

If you told anyone you should be getting or are getting 820miles per tank you're a fool.

That happens in a lot of vehicles, its just more noticeable in the civics cuz of the digital guage. I get about 300-350 in mine.

I made it to 365 with no bars left and when I filled it, it only took 12.3 gallons. Pretty good!

When the fuel light comes on, the reserve tank will be used which I think holds something like 1.6 gallons.

You should never let you car run that low on gas, theres a chance you can suck up any sediment on the bottom of your fuel tank

yep...dont get in the habbit to keep running the tank empty. The fuel pump uses gas to somewhat help it cool. Now if you keep on filling up half way, or keep on running on E. you can overheat your fuel pump. Not to mention what "OoE" sed too

Hmm, I always run it to anywhere from 3 bars down to none. I guess I should stop that

I'm always just trying to see how much I can get from a tank. I'm getting no where near what I should.

Im say as you eL. I havent made it past 29 mpg in my car, and I primarily only drive highway.

I took it to my dealership saying that I should be getting at LEAST 35 gallons since I ONLY drive highway, and then like a minute of city where I get off the highway exit to my house. The guy told me to stop riding it so hard. I literally sat down, put my head in my hands, and explained to him it was a 4 dr automatic civic. You dont generally drive those too hard.

If there is "sediment" on the bottom there is a chance it will get sucked up anyway regardless of how much fuel you have. I ain't buying it. Got any links?

Still the best milage car I have ever owned.
30-32 mpg freeway 75mph @ 3,300 rpms.
I just may stick with this brand

Oops. I always fill up to halfway. It gives me the mentality not to drive around too much and save gas. This is on my Ford Windstar though, so oh well.

i've always had a simple rule - summertime, i fill up at 1/4 tank and wintertime, 1/2 tank. i don't have a really good reason for this, aside for maybe the extra weight helping with traction, or if i should get stuck in a snowbank and had to keep warm for awhile. but it's worked for me - anything below a quarter, and i start getting antsy for a fill up

I thought it was a 12.5gallon tank? I've been averaging 330, worst was 300. Anyone do any long highway only trips? I made 450 miles on a tank!
