Default Fiberglass

I tried searching and didnt find anything on "fiberglass repair"

I know there is black fiberglass thats cheaper and looks like carbonfiber
theres a chip on the front of my hood i want to fix and I want to do something cool but i dont want to tell you guys yet until Im done with it

but basicly I need a DIY on how to fix and work with fiberglass

Fiberglass to repair a chip in the hood ?

well the weave isnt broken. and scratch what i said about using fiberglass to repair the hood. the plastic or clear coat of the hood is chiped and i need to fix that. the black fiberglass is to add something on the hood

what is that clear material used over carbon fiber?

Its resin but the word your looking for is rice !

how is it rice to fix your hood? and you dont even know what im doing so you cant say anything

Umm , lets see here , your looking to add a DIY "carbon fiber" overlay of any sort to a hood made out of sheet metal , that spells rice in my world.

OK , so now i must eat a few of my own words , i just noticed that you do have a CF hood. My bad , I jumped the gun and pulled out the rice flag too soon.....

1st - my hood "IS" carbon fiber....
2nd - I chipped the clear gel coat on my CARBON FIBER hood
3rd - I wanted to add some black fiberglass since its cheaper and looks the same or real carbon fiber to the hood...

cuz im workin on a DIY but I needed some info on workin on and with fiberglass/carbon fiber

wheew , i beat you to the post.

I know with glass you have three components , resin , catalist , and weave.
Sorry but thats all I got in the tech side of it.

yeah you cant fix carbon fiber with fiberglass. I mean it'll hold but might look shitty.

black fiberglass looks just like carbon fiber
and its not to fix the carbon fiber
its to add on to the hood
just need the info how to work with it and I'll post you guys my DIY when Im done with it

well I guess you should do some test work using it before you actually try it on the hood. mabe pic up a peice of junk FG body kit or whatever and test sanding and adding to that peice of fiber glass till you get the hang of the proccess before you chance a crappy application on the hood itself.
I must know what were talking about though , any chance of a PM ?

post a pic of the chip and I will help you fix it, also http://www.fibreglast.com has the black fiberglass or I can even sell you scraps of carbon I have for hella cheap
