Hey guys,
I'm looking at swapping in a Type R transmission into my GSR.
I found this on Ebay. It has shaft damage. My question is: Is this worth the repair costs (probably a new shaft)? He was asking $700.00.
I would need to open it up anyway to drop in a taller 5th for cruising.

The damage doesn't look too bad, and he says this is the only damage. It looks like a spun throw-out bearing.
I'm also concered that if this is present what else could be wrong?
Let me know what you think.

The question that you need to ask yourself is "can you fix this transmission". You will need special equipment like a press. Otherwise, you are going to sink $$$ into it. A new ITR transmission costs about $1800 from Acura.

Equipment (and Helm manual) I've got, I just haven't priced a new shaft from Acura yet.
I've just never seen damage like this before. How the heck do you fry a throw-out bearing like that? Which leads me to wonder what this transmission has been through. Just wondering if anyone had seen this before and if it's worth buying the new shaft.
BTW: Interesting info in your sig, I didn't know that.
