Default GSR being a little F*@ker! (running bad... sometimes)

Okay- over the past few days I have been having a problem with my integra sporadically running rough, and sometimes stalling, and I'm trying to narrow it down.

It seems that the first symptom is that V-tec won't engage, and instead it feels like I'm hitting the rev limiter, but at like 6k rpm. Moments later, it starts to lope under partial throttle, and then once in a while it will die at a stoplight as I said. When I try to restart it, sometimes it will take a few minutes, but it will sputter at first, then when I give it some gas, it will get going again, then no more problems for a couple of days.

I was thinking maybe fuel pump, but I don't know. I haven't had a fuel pump go out, ever. I have just replaced the fuel filter, plugs, and all other tune up items are relatively new. It isn't overheating, no engine lights.

Any help is appreciated, as I am sick of pushing this bitch down the street. If I wanted this kind of reliability, I would have bought a Focus.

try removing the VTEC solenoid and cleaning the screen, this could cause the VTEC not to engage.

I assume you replaced the cap and rotor?

it has a pretty new msd cap and rotor.

I'll try the solenoid.

pull the cap and make sure it's in good shape and that the rotor is tight.

Did these problems exist before the ignition tuneup?

Yeah, they were the reason for some of the ignition tune-up. I'm in the process of pulling the cap and rechecking connections, etc. We'll see if anything comes up.

Well, the rotor is a little worn, so I'll try replacing it and see what happens

I'm seriously beginning to think I might have gotten some bad gas... It was still running a little shitty after I replaced all that stuff, and then once I ran through another tank, it has been better.

That tank did come from some little station in the middle of the desert in Arizona, and it was like 2.03 a gallon. Maybe they diluted it a little, I don't know.

It runs great right now though.
