Skunk2 Cams Stage3 Streetable?
Hi guys im in need of some cams. I was thinking CTR cams but i thing just spend the extra for Skunk2. Are Stage 3 streetable?
Intake 12.8 mm, duration 273 @ 1mm, Exhuast 11.5 mm, duration 273 @ 1mm
or stage 2 In 12.3 mm, duration 266 @ 1mm, Ex 11.8 mm, duration 262 @ 1mm
This will be used with an ITR valve train.
anyone used them? dyno gains?
Your thoughts? Thanks guys

Your ITR valvetrain will definitely not be able to handle such large cams. And from what I heard, Skunk stg 3 cams aren't streetable....you need to check the valve lash all the time.

Ive heard several times that skunk2 cams are almost EXACT replicas of JUN cams. So you probably shouldn't run JUN 3s on your car either.
Where do you get that bullshit JUN3"s run fine on the street ....
EDIT.. I MEANT DON"T RUN FINE I RUN THEM IN MY GSR DAILY WITH NO PROBSS

um, ask Canuck MX-6...he had them on his teg...so they are streetable...it's not bullshit so there...i think vegeta was runnin jun3s also...plenty of people...are u telling me skunk2 stage 2s aren't streetable...cuz they most certainly are, while not being drop in cams, they still are streetable, and they have very similar profile to Jun3s...so u cut the bull ****.
The stage 3's would probably require a minimum of 13:1 compression. They won't start waking up to almost 5-6 grand..
Just fyi a big cam is no good if you don't have the compression to push them.

what do you guys think of either the 63403 or 63412 here are the specs:

Ummm............I didnt say that you can't run Jun 3s on the street, so whoever put words in my mouth needs to shut the **** up while Im still asking nicely. In one of the above posts, someone was warning against Skunk stage 3s, yet recommending Jun 3s at the same time. I was simply stating that the two were basically copies, so he shouldnt run the Juns if he is scared to run the Skunks.
Skunk stage 3 cams are designed for race motors that don't see a lot of mileage. On a daily driven car they put extreme wear on the stock rocker assemblies, and aren't recommended for street use. I've also heard that the stage2 cams didn't make power in recent tests by import tuner, and my roomate had problems with them as well. Might want to wait until all this stuff gets squared away.
caused the intake cam to seize on the head. I had skunk cams..spun two main bearings. fucked the crank up. basically i need a new longblock.. This was a pretty much a brand new itr shortblock with ctr pistons with a mac daddyd port and polished head. i think i can salvage the springs, retainers, and valves if i want..It will cost more to fix this block than it will to find a replacement..
If your not making power with the type 2 cams then there's something wrong there buddy. just dropping in my stage 1's I made 12hp.. Sorry but I don't trust "import tuner" aka ricer roni magazine to go for an honest opinion on power making parts.

D Lansing, ur a ******* tard, u know why? Cuz skunk2 stage 2s are copies of Jun3s...not skunk2 stage3s...so i think u need to shut the **** up and go read...

while we are talkin smack about skunk2...we can also add in some animosity towards JUN...which dont produce sX?t. ive seen many examples of cars built up by FUN that aren't producing anywhere near what they should be producing. if I was to get any cams off the shelf...they would be TODA Bs along with the valvetrain, based on just experience, and what they have put out. specs dont mean **** when they dont put out any numbers on the dyno/track.
