Default Drilling Into A Kevlar 1-peice Seat...., seat mounting help...

Well i baught a Cobra Imola S with the mounting brackets and I've concluded (after 8 hours) it's a physical impossibility to mount it with the Cobra brackets so I resorted to mounting it directly to the floor. I cut/bent a couple of flat metal brackets and bolted them to the floor of the miata using the OEM moutning spots/bolts. I plan on them drilling 2-3 holes on the bottom of the seat per side and then bolting the seat to the brackets attached to the floor pan of the car. Is this an ok method of mounting? Im using 3/16th inch steel for the brackets, and 12.9 grade bolts with extra wide washers all around. Does this seem like an ok method for moutning? Will drilling the holes into the bottom of the seat drastically diminish the streangth of the seat? If not, should i use 2 or 3 bolts per side? All help would be appreciated.

P.S. this is a duel purpose auto-x and track car so i need it to actually be safe.

no expert here. but, i dont like the idea of drilling holes into lightweight material like that. seems like it would weaken it alot. haveyou tried contacting the manufacturer?
last question-is the kevlar reinforced with anything around the original mount holes?

do not drill into the seat, it will kill the seat completely as far as resale or just doesnt sound like a good idea to me. especially for any type of sanctioned track time do you have pictures of the seat and or the issue your having??

Like it has been said, if you drill into the seat, the area around the loes will be weakened unless properly reinforced. You could potentially pull the bolts right thru the seat and get flung forward.

Even after repeated entry/exit you could weaken the area.

Any carbon/composite part where a bolt enter through it was designed that way. hard points (where the composite is built up/reinforced in a specific way) allow the anchoring to be possible. Drilling holes into composite where a load and force will be seen where it wasn't intended isn't a good idea.
