Default Finally got mine after a few years of pining and working my *** off!

And I didn't even have to pull my pants down and bend over!

Just a couple of Q's:

1) Is the tranny really that loud when coasting and not under serious load. I just hear everything. No complaints just wanna make sure nothin's broken

2) kinda notchy going into 3rd, never crunched the gears though

3) Feel the synchros in 2nd

4) Why would the HID's go outta alignment? One's higher than the other

5) Love hearing everything in the motor, but can you guys hear pumps and other crap going on all the time, or is your car quiet like an Accord? Stupid question, I know, but I need a reference.

Here's my deal:

2001 S2000
MetGray with Red interior, not bleeding red, just red seats and trim, black roll bars
10,000 miles only
Bought for $28,799, Good price I think, my bank thinks its a steal

Verdict:

Hard to get used to at first, but now I just love to make the car sing. I never could play an instrument, but I feel like Jimmy Hendrix on the road. Nothing like dumping the gas with my heel on brake diving into a corner.

Gotta agree with the boys at Car/Evo, one of those snotty Brit mags, vague turn-in and a bit of float and understeer. Time for Coil overs and suspension mods.

Damn this thing gets dirty quick with the top down.

Sorry to sound ecstatic, but I've been wanting one for 2 or so years now. I'm more excited to stard designing product for it, Indvidual throttles, etc.

Enjoy it, I love mine. I will try to help out as much as I can.

1) Some of the S2000 have had a TSB on the springs in the clutch plate vibrating during deceleration, but nothing during cruising.
2) Mine is the exact same going into 3rd, everytime but never any problem.
3) There is a TSB concerning the 1-2 shift on the 2000 cars, but I am not sure about the 2001's.
4) The beam pattern should be a straight line up to the double yellow line on the road, then go up slightly higher and keep that line _^- (poor example).
5) Noises are fine, quiet sucks !
I am not positive about all this, but it should at least help you out.

4) The right one should be higher up then the left one. The reason is, is that if the left one was as high as the right it would completely blind the person in front of you. Drive around for a while and you'll realize honda did the right thing by making the left one a little lower.

I drive an 02' and i have the same senario with the synchros from 1-2 and the rigidness to third. I belive this to be a common happening and have no problems of my own. you will get used to it. keep it flyin'.

Anecdotally I'm finding that the gears are a bit notchier when short shifting or low RPM shifting, but butter at high RPM's.

When designing mechanisms, like trannies for instance, there are only ranges to work within that are optimized. The usual civic with high hp and revved higher than intended crunches gears at the new redline, I think that this tranny is optimized for the higher RPM.

Butter shifting past 5G.
