Hi I just bought a crx from a friend but his brother has the keys in another city. We were going to tow it to my house because it's basically a shell with an ls swap but the steering wheel is locked. Is there anyway to bypass the ignition other than breaking it off? Thanks for your time!

Sorry I appreciate your situation, but anyone answering this is educating thieves.

Suck it up and call a locksmith, they can rekey OR if you have your pink and/or registration, Honda dealer can cut a key for you.

 

How much does it cost to cut a new key from Honda?

 

Between $5-10 Title has to be in your name

 

Take your title, ID, and your VIN to your local Honda parts department and they'll cut you a new key. Won't cost more than $10 unless it's one of those asshat dealerships that charges more than MSRP for parts.

Maybe the three dealers I went to lied to me... But when I went to get a key cut the other day for a 91 they told me it was no longer in the system due to its age...

I got one for my 95 civic 2 yrs ago tho...it was only 4 bux...

Sux tho coz i more than likey need to get a new ignition switch along with the matching door locks...

I'd tell u what I did to unlock the wheel but its deffinately not the smartest thing to do on this forum..

Read the manual

 

If your friends brother has the original key, hey can read off the number from the key, up top by the plastic. Take that code with the vin and other info to Honda. They can cut from the code.

I had to do that just a month or two ago on my 91. He used the code and cut it with this neat manual key cutter.
