best way to remove the crankshaft seal on D16
what is the best and safest method to remove the crank seal on a D16 engine?
Mine is leaking and although I have a new seal I'm a bit weary on removing it.
Also what is the best way to install the new one? I was thinking of using a socket or something to tap it in.
Suggestions guys?
Thanks

You talking about the rear seal or not really rear on a fwd but the side with the tranny? Seen people actually use screws and pull on the screws to get it out.
use a screw driver to get it out just dont scratch the metal
put in the new one with a rubber mallet and socket or just use the mallet handle

i usually slowly drill a small diameter screw into it a little ways(look a the new one to see where to drill). Then take a pair of pliers and pull on the screw. To place the new one in i usually take the old seal and place it on top of the new one and lightly tap around in a circle until it sit in it evenly.
i want to replace the front seal where the crank pulley is.
Turns out it wasn't leaking after all so I didn't bother and just replaced the t-belt.
thanks for all the tips!
