someitmes you do get what you pay for but also at the same time you souldnt be over paying for anything if you shouldnt have to. a properly built motor is only as good as how the owner maintains it.

there are a lot of reputable shops in the so cal area so make sure you shop around.

try giving kurt a call over at kg precision engineering in hb. 714-841-8990

Serenity Sound Performance in Fountain Valley. . .talk to Thai. . .he is the man. Give them a call @ 714-962-8282 or go to www.serenitysoundusa.com They are all very knowledgeable, and they just did some work on a WRX for an upcoming issue of Import Tuner.

Although I definately respect Clay and Kitty, I doubt Chris as a head mechanic...

Actually, Chris is pretty knowledgable, tho he does tend to rush on smaller jobs so you may not get the absolute best work if it's not something big. My main reason for staying away from them (even tho I used to go there a lot cuz I knew Kitty from the Pit Crew days) is the "sales manager", or whatever title he has, Kevin. Every single time I've dealt w/ him, he's been rude w/ the attitude that "we're doing you a favor" crap. He has one of the worst customer service attitudes I've ever dealt with. I liked it much better when Pat was working there before Kevin took his place.

If you are building an all motor car I`d suggest:

ImportBuilders.com Talk 2 jeff. He`s worked on and tuned a shitload of my friends car`s.

There is also 161822.com They are available by appt. only and do excellent work. Talk 2 Bobby. They are helping w. the build-up of my ******. Oh, don`t let their website fool you haha

I also know of 3-4 excellent mechanics that work out of their own garages, too.

Ryan

Go to Autolink Motorworks in temple city, 626 279 2617. They are the best in my opinion, Kevin is a little rude ........Just speak to kitty if you need anything. Btw , CHris is a great mechanic, why do you think magazines like super street go him for the "how to articles"? just my .02

Kevin is koo. He's just like that.. but he doesnt mean to be a dick.. you know how certain people just come off a little more aggressive than others. But he'll help you out.

Peace.

Is kevin the bigger dude that works at autolink? From the 5-6 times i've been there, i have walked out on 3 occaisins wanting to take my business somewhere else because of the way he treats customers. I don't know how people get away with such shitty customer service in this day and age. Kitty and Chris are definately the people who you want to deal with if you stop by at Autolink.

Yeah, that's him. So far, everytime I've gone there since he worked there, he seems to be unwilling to answer questions and is overall just not enthusiastic to help the customer. I've also gotten much better prices when speaking to Kitty, but now Kevin is the one that always answers the phone. Perhaps he's nicer to other ppl or I caught him at bad days every time, but that's enuf for me to go elsewhere. I've found the guys at Inline4 to be very nice, enthusiastic, and curteous.

anywhere but Upgrade Engineering.
Actualy i got mine done at upgrade engineering. Tim did awesome work. lsvtec with p30 pistons. not a single problem with it. no smoke or anything
ran 13.8 on street tires. just intake exhuast headers. b16 pistons. they do good work.. only thing that sux is they lag. but FYI anywhere you go to get a motor built is going to take at least a week or so... mine took 2 weeks. and im very satisfied with the rusults. and actualy i quote jeff from IB on this "we are so busy we have 18 motors to build and ship out" so they might lag to...
UPGRADE does really good work. you get what you pay for.
