Hey out there. Im a mini cooper, BMW, and VW technician so im not real knowledgeable with the honda motor but i have a 1985 civic 1.5l. The coolant seems to not be circulating. replaced radiator, waterpump, thermostat, flushd coolant. car still overheats its really frustrating. ist my good gas milage car so i need to get it fixed got any ideas? Im gonna check compresion this week a head gasket is the only other thing i can think of.

 

one or both of your radiator hoses stays cool? smoke in the exhaust?

i've heard of cheaper aftermarket thermostats not working properly, maybe it's stuck closed (do the old boiling water test).....

 

You could have an air bubble too.

 

Yeah both radiator hoses are warm. Im not familliar with the boiling water trick. no smoke either

 

are you losing coolant? do you have to keep filling it up? that could make a difference.

 

check the electric fan
