i was just wondering if anyone notice a difference when they went from regular oil to senthetic(mobil 1). i did my oil change yesterday and decided to go for mobil 1, i also change my fuel filter. my car accelerates better and runs smoother, i was practicing my launches at 3K and it picks up. i also took to 120mph on the freeway i was actually trying to max it to 140+mph but my tires arent Zrated, and the car was running awesome. i recommend going senthetic y'all. peace

Mayhe the oil helped , I dunno this has been an on going battle in the automotive world for the longest time (synthetic or regular) similar to the premium gas or regular . I personally notice my car run better after an oil change . but then you did change your fuel filter out also . That also might improve performance if your old filter was worn out and plugged up . Personally its all your own preference . Me I just run regular oil .
my understanding is synthetics tend to seep into spaces it should'nt be. i've experienced leaks after using it where as before wits regular the motor had no leakage. it's structure by design is to separate into such small molecules that it tends to pass gaskets and enter the land of no return. it was suggested that i consider using a blend.
i did and no more leak...go figure
did i notice a difference? sure-it's all in your head

in an old import tuner mag i they dynoed a civic with regular and with synthetic, and with synthetic got like 4-6 extra hp.
no.
their primary sponsor is APC
apc=garbage.
IMO, i think the only thing synthetic does for your car is hurt you in your wallet in the long run. that stuff isnt cheap. just keep track of the oil changes every 3k miles, change the oil filter and watch the levels is more then plenty.

Synthetic as someone said will resist thermal breakdown or thinning of the oil as more heat is applied to it. Conventional oil will breakdown quicker which means less protection for your engine. Viscosity (thickness) is very essential to protecting your engine, but too thick of an oil will cause parasitic loss. Honey will not flow as well as water, but water (I think) has a lower boiling point than honey.
I'd spend an extra $1-2 a quart to protect my engine than having my engine blow because I wanted to be cheap.
I went from Mobil 1 5w-30 to Mobil 1 0w-30 and noticed no difference and the prices are the same.

Do what makes you feel good.
Personally, I would pool the $$$ for regular oil change. IMO, fresh oil & new filter is better than used synthetic oil with old filter. In fact, I would NOT even change it every 3K miles. Follow the Owners Manual. The owners manual does NOT say I have to change it every 3K. Who know Honda better than Honda.
I run it to about 4K-5K, just for my peace of mind. That's for me. It may not be for you. I'm not saying synthetic oil is bad or worthless. It's just not for me.
P.S. I did the 3K thing, and tried synthetic. After 16 years, I really don't see the difference for a person who take care of their car on a regular basis. The only thing the hurts was my wallet.
Oil nowadays has all the goodies already in it to help it protect and run the smoothest. Over the counter oil additives are a thing of the past now. Those additives are now including in the oil. If you take care of your car then regular oil should do fine. If you keep your car in redline the whole time, synthetic maybe a lil better.
I just go with with a blend and settle inbetween.

this topic is like the great debate between evolution and the bible theory, there just is no "right" answer. everyone has his/her opinions because there is not enough solid evidence to prove which one is real/true/correct.
