The salesman I spoke with today said that other than fluid and filter changes there is no scheduled maintenance for the Fit for 100k+. I see that in the brochure as well. How much truth is there to this? Also the salesman told me the Fit has a timing chain rather than a timing belt. I can't find anything on this. Yes I did a search.

That is correct the Fit has a timing CHAIN not a belt.

as was stated above it is no MAJOR tuneups. It is not required, but I still do the maintenance on the car as if it were an older car.

 

it's amazing how marketing decided to lower the cost of ownership by magically requiring less maintenance. i change all my fluids every year.

my favorite are the germans. when the factory began including free maintenance with all the new cars, all driveline fliuds became "lifetime fluids" and the oil changes went to 15k intervals.

gotta love the bean counters.

 

Its a sales gimmick to get folks to buy long term tune up vehicles, keep an eye on your stuff and tune it up when your gas milage goes down to a noticable level and see if your milage returns, bet it will.

make sure you use OEM stuff, anything else may kill the warantee if your engine goes out.

 

"Fluids" still includes oil/trans/coolant/brake/clutch*/diff* fluids.

Brakes/clutch/tires/etc are not "tune-ups". Damage/Warranty repair isn't considered a "tune-up" either.

A "tune-up" is basically just valve adjustment, spark plugs/wires, and idle inspection. Every Honda has had a 100K+ mile tune-up interval since 2003.
