install an intake
a full cold air intake or short ram ?? no negatives ,, if you install the full cold air intake, make sure to install the bypass valve to keep water out of the system should you go over a water puddle
k&n or AEM ,,

it's pretty easy. are you talking about a cold air intake? or a ram air? cold air you need to cut a hole under your battery but it's not hard. and you don't need a bypass valve. i have a cold air intake and have driven through some wicked puddles with no problem.

why would you need to cut a hole under your battery for cold air? there is already a hole there so you can stick your piping under the car.

and with the bypass valve, it not really necessary if you live where there isnt that much rain/snow but where you place the filter, there is the fender shield that covers the filters exposer to the open.

Its really really easy and simple. Ive had a short ram intake and gone to a cold-air intake and they were both easy, they sound great, and pretty much a few bolts to undo, and some stuff to tighten up, thats about it.
dont bother with one of those bypass valves, They realy arent needed even for a cai. If your going to spend money on an intake, do it right and buy a quality part....none of that ebay ****. Spend the money. If i were you id purchase a dynamic intake kit from honda. Its desighned for the bb6 prelude but works and fits perfectly in a 5th gen accord. You retain a nice stockish look ( sorta ) as well as a nice quit sound ( a hair louder than your stock intake and a hair throatier ) and its also JDM ( not that it matters). They run 150 dollars and all you'll need is a drop in filter for a 4th or 5th gen prelude and the lower half of the intake box which you can find anywere. Its a HUGE intake system witch utilizes chambers to produce more tq and hp over your stock system and looks amazing under the hood as well. you can get them at cbmotorsports http://yhst-1408381693991.stor....html
i also have some dyno's of my aem cai vs this intake on my b1 and according to the dynapack, i gained .6 tq and 1.3 hp over the aem. Id also recomend taking the resonator out with this intake as you will not need it and get a k&N drop in filter.

I just installed my intake the other day, and it turned out great, took less then an hour. Like what TheMuffinMan said, ebay piping is great, and a K&N Filter would be great. I think the best part is the sound it makes when u reving ur engine.

oh thats not mine, i just was showing that to you as a reference b/c u asked is it hard or not to install..anyway this one is mine http://s36.photobucket.com/alb...ntake/
The only thing I would say that could be considered a negative, although not for me, is the noise. Other than that, I can't think of anything negative about an aftermarket intake. Beware, if you go eGay, yours might crap out on you.

sorry buddy a pipe is a pipe, doesnt matter all thats going threw it is air, i don tsee how it will "crap" out on you...
to the OP.. u do what u watn and listen to who u want , but pipin is piping, save ur momney and get ebay piping and get a k&n filter. If you really worried if u get CAI then go ahead and get that bypass valve.
ive had my ebay intake for two years and its never onced "crapped" out lol. i still dont understand how piping that takes in air can crap out.

i have replaced a few engines because they have hydrolocked,, sucked water through the cold air intake being so low...........
trust me spend the extra 50 dollars and play it safe ,, or take a chance on spending thousands later .......
this goes for all of you that have cai,, and no bypass valve
PAY IT NOW or PAY IT LATER ..

Your not going to hydro lock an engine just running over a couple small puddles or driving in the rain. That filter needs to be submerged for that to happen. Why would you drive over something like that to begin with ?
Piping is piping for the most part but you pay for the R&D that goes into those name brand systems, which are bent to provide the maximum are flow and velocity.
If you doing it for sound.......by all means spend 50 bucks on a cheap intake .........its all rice to me. If you want to do things right, buy quality parts.
You should realy look into the BB6 dynamic intake kit from Honda. You gain tq and it doesnt sound like every other riceboy out there with there accords and plastic engine wire covers etc....... Please, just keep it clean and choose quality parts.

Actually, the filter does NOT have to be submerged in water. A friend of mine hydrolocked his motor with a only removed resonator box(filter still inside the engine bay) in a nasty rain storm.
are you one of those people who thinks an intake gives you 1324965356 hp?

no, but ive owned several that were inches off the ground and drove fine in the rain with them.
No, i dont belive intakes give you a whole lot, but i do belive in quality parts and none of that ebay ****. There'd be less rice in the world if people just bought quality parts and kept there cars clean. ebay intakes/altezas/wings/exhaust/headers.....................all garbage unless you find some quality peices.
for the last time, an intake IS NOT just and intake. Those that are R&D tested to produce and net the most gain's are always going to be better than those that are simply thrown together with Cheap *** couplers, clamps and some cheap filter. Companies that are able to sell intakes or any quality parts for that matter are able to do so because they have put the time and research into developing a product that will outperform there compitition. They make sure there intakes are air/fuel friendly, have the proper degree of bends to provide the maximum peak hp and tq,have air mass unit placements, proper filter size, swaging and the correct inner and outer diameter to yield the proper gains for each specific vehicle.
then again, if its just an accord...........whats the point if all he wants is the cool sound of his sohc vtec or non vtec excuse for an engine

We were'nt discussing installing any sort of exhaust system from ebay, may it be a header, or a cat back. The thread was about an intake. Who has wings and altezzas here anyway?? You will be surprised to find that many respected members of this site are "ricers" with "crappy intakes".

I would like to see where AEM spent days on the dyno making an intake just for the 5th gen accord.
I doubt it happened. When it comes to short ram/cold air, an intake is an intake. A quality filter is def. needed, as is a bypass vavle(a REAL AEM one). Pipe diameter is something that also matters more so than sticker on the outside.

Who said that? My accord is far more than just a family grocery getter. I put alot of hard work, time, and money into it, but i also know when to invest in quality parts vs. using something half the price, that does the same job. Thanks and have a nice day.

Nice intake.
Good luck
