Default VIS Racing CF OEM style Hood...

Do any of you have one? What is the quality of it? How much do they retail? Where's the cheapest they can be bought?

Please post any pictures.

i have one. quality is fine, i guess. Mine is pretty light, lighter than others i've lifted. with a fiberglass skeleton, oem style. The edges are cut, not too bad. The fit is alright, not perfect, gap is a little wider than stock. I'm not totally confident in the latch, looks bondo cheesy, but it hasn't broken off yet, after atleast a year. I put hood pins on anyway. Some people LOVE their Vis hood, i'm just satisfied with mine. It does it's job, looks good from far. Not perfect like how i imagine a Spoon hood to be, or even a FI hood, but i haven't taken a close look at either of those. What else is there to say? I paid $200 for mine used, i think they retail for around $400. I don't know, maybe Vis has upped their standards since.

the new VIS carbon hoods are definately very nice quality and best bang for the buck. the edges are roll and it has a really glossy show quality finish. the only downside though is that they are a little bit on the heavy side for cf hoods. still lighter then stock though

There was a Group buy on them on groupbuycenter.com. Email them and ask them if you can still get the $499 shipped rate. Regan actually drove from North Carolina and hand delivered it to me. That's what I call service!!!

I was pleasantly surprised at the quality of VIS hood that I helped install yesterday. The fit is 99% OEM, the C/F weaves were 99.9% perfect, clearcoat finish was 95% flawless.

The only thing is that for a C/F hood, it's HEAVY! I'm gonna measure the weight in the next few days and compare the weight savings. My guess is around 10lbs savings over OEM hood.

IMHO, new VIS hood is more for "show" (very, very good quality) then being the ultimate lightweight C/F hood for racing.

VIS hood:
Price: ~$350 picked up (sorry, it was a one time deal... don't ask me to buy you one as shipping would kill the deal anyway.)

While the fit, weave, finish, and overall construction are TOP NOTCH the VIS hoods are Heavy.

I would buy them for looks alone, but if I'm dropping money on a C/F hood I would like to have the lightest/strongest possible.

VIS hoods:

Okay, i'm totally steamin now. When did VIS start making their hoods so good? I know mine is about atleast a year old, and my bro picked it up from the actual VIS shop in, i believe, Monterey Park, CA.
