Default Battery Question

Can anyone tell me the results of putting the positive cable on the negative terminal and vice versa? To long to tell you why it happened.

Pretty much all the electronics in the car are gone. I'm interested in why it happened.

You'll blow your under hood battery fuse.

pop the main fuse eventually.
first the ECU would take a decent hit and pop the reverse protection diode.
you'd possibly pop a few things in the cluster and maybe your airbag controller.

then again the main fuse may just pop and you'll be fine.
Hard to tell without knowing what you've tried since it happened and what problems you are observing.
