Umm... a four cylinder getting 19 and 23?
The 3.0 V6 gets 21 and 30...
It wasn't fuel efficiency. More likely they are trying to compete with other SUV's and in particular, the Mazda CX7, which also has a turbo-charged version.

How is the RDX labeled as over priced but you never mentioned that about the MDX? The MSRP for the RDX is about 8k less than the MDX.

I'm not trying to imply that the RDX is overpriced and the MDX isn't. I'm just saying the new MDX is a good looking car. $38k for a small crossover vehicle with 4cylinders is considered overpriced to me. I'm not really comparing the two cars here. They're not even in the same class.

I test drove it about 2 weeks ago and will get one in the upcoming week(s). I spoke to the sales guy, which seemed like he really knew what he was talking about.
He compared it to the MDX, which has a bigger v6. The goal of the RDX was to have a lightweight, yet powerful enough powerplant to push the chassis. To me it ran very well, and the way the sales guy showed me how well it could handle was exceptionally superb.
He took me to an empty parking lot, performed some tight circle turns and proved his point. Then he let me push the car, as if it were mine. He even encouraged me to push it to redline from a roll to show the lack of turbo lag.
If you're just talking shiet out of your mouth without experiencing it first hand, I'd recommend you go test drive it. I drove other SUV's and this is second to none!

The J30 gets 21/30 in an Accord -- a lighter and more aero-friendly platform.

yep. all these people that say its over priced, bad MPG and looks ugly has not driven one. and you cant compare the RDX to others in its class because well there is no comparison! if youve been in one youd understand.
redlinetuning, when you do purchase your RDX go to this Acura forum. i am on there w/ the same SN. and others who have an RDX are also welcomed.

Well here are my personal thoughts....
As soon as we got them in, my first impression was that it is smaller than I expected. I get in the passenger seat....cramped. Right leg on the door paner, left leg on the center console. Not enough front seat room, let alone the rear seat. And about those rear seats, not a big fan. Theres no locking mechanism to hold the rear seat bottom down, and it feels rather cheap flopping around. Other than that, the car handles/performs really well. Overpriced? Maybe. Fun to drive? Definitely. Are there better options out there? Could be. Does it come down to what you want in a vehicle? Absolutely.

Possibly not, but can anyone find an earlier example of a production engine with a VFT than the JDM turbo Legend with its C20AT? Then again, that was one strange engine, being a 2 liter V6...

he didn't say anything about honda inventing the vft. he said he liked their design. and the only other car i can think of now with variable geometry turbos are the new 911's. except theirs makes over 480hp and over 460-505tq @ 1900rpm on a 3.6l flat six. (not that i'm comparing the two, just pointing out its impressiveness)
here's their dyno
