inline transmission filter?
called Honda dealer today, they say thew transmission filter is not in-line. and after going through my honda shop manual, only filter I could find is burried deep within the transmission, which means I wish this transmission had a inpan filter.
I was wondering is this correct, I have a 1984 - 1987 civic shop manual and thats what it says
where is the transmission filter in a 1990 4 speed automatic transmission. is it in-line? or is it in-side?
how does one go about changing this filter?
any links or advice?
I want to avoid taking it to the dealer and paying honda more money to fix my car then I paid for the car itself.
"My friend had a 240 Datsun once, it was a POS" - my Dad.
"I loved my Civic, it was yellow and easy to park." - My mom in ref to her Civic CVCC.
1990 Honda civic CX
1992 240SX LE HICAS (project car)
1995 Oldsmobile Cutless ciera (people hauler)

Sorry if I gave you mis-information in your other thread, it's just when I was considering changing the fluid in my beater's tranny, I was told by the dealer that it was inline. Well, I'd just get under the car and check it for you, but my GF's been borrowing it. Good luck.
Oh, pic for your views, people seem to be more likely too look if there's a pic.

Here's my slushbox. It may not be nearly as clean as a lot of cars here, but it sure has more interesting things to look at.

i was just gonna say that.
when i worked for honda, we used to chuckle when an old guy wanted a 'gosh darn tranny filter'
i learned a lot from talking with the guys at H & A transmissions (who rebuilt all of our trannies), which i understand is the gearspeed parent company.
