How much $ did you spend on your Type R?
Please help a brotha out w/ an insurance company battle. I want to go into combat as well armed as possible.
This is a question for all of the people who may have purchased or sold any of the latest round of '97-'98 ITR's that were for sale a month or so back.
How much did you pay for the car? Or how much did you sell the car for?
I know what the "asking prices" were. I would like to know what it boiled down to.
Thank you so much for your help.

FYI the R is very hard to put a # on for a dealer or ins. company. Most claims are settled by looking them up in a used car guide that is published bymonthly and circulated to ALL new/used car dealers/insurance companies nationwide that subscribe to it. Because it is the industry "standard/average", it is used nationwide. The book get its prices based on the selling price of cars when they are run through the auctions. There are not/have not been enough Rs through auctions to determine a "average price" so the spot under 2drhatchbackR is blank in this book. (I just looked again yesterday, A good friend owns a dealership)
Another way for them to get an average price is from "Manheims"(sp?) online. They are the biggest automotive auctioners across the US and track vehicles online. For instant, just today I look for 2000 ITRs through the auction. Only 2 came up that have been sold, one sold for $14k the other for $18,900. The problem there is that you have know idea what condition they were sold in.
The best thing to do (and also the hardest) is to hold out on the insurance company and do some of your own investigation. Look for as many ITRs for sale as possible and present the list of prices to them. They will no doubt try to give you an average but hopefully that helps you.

Dude.. wish I could help, but I just bought another 01, not a 97/98. Although, I looked at 2 98's... one of which SOLD for $14k, (traded to a dealer, 61k miles), and the other to the best of my knowledge SOLD for $17,5. (Lower mileage.).
But, I replied because I thought your sig was funny as hell.
GL with the insurance chit.
