Default CRX Hatch rattle from struts

Has anyone come up with a solution to eliminate the hatch / strut arm rattle on rough roads and bumps.? My struts are fully pressurized but the socket fits loosely on the mounting posts.

Do you have the type of struts that have the pin you can pull out (to remove the socket from the ball)? If you do, take the socket off the ball and put some grease in there. It's worth a try.

I believe that the struts I have are aftermarket, they have a U shape clip that slides over the ball socket and keeps the strut from falling off the steel nipple on the hatch. I was thinking of filling the socket with silicone and popping the assembly together and seeing if that might work.

Pop the socket off and put some nice thick grease in there! C'mon, you know you want to. That'll probably help best. If it's worn too much, you could think of putting something in to preload it a little, like fireant said.

Good luck
