idiot caused me to wreck my 06 RR.......(story inside)
soo, this happened on halloween soo im still a lil out of it soo here it goes.......
i had to ride to my wife's work to drop off some things to her. i leave and am heading on the mainroad back to the freeway. its about 3 lanes wide and has a dirt median in the center. anyways, im goin about 45mph because traffic is a lil thick. im in center lane and signal and look soo i can move into the #1 lane(lane closest to the median). as i move into the lane, this is dumbass in a white pickup cut over from the #3 lane into mine and doesnt see me. i hit my brakes and they lock up on me, causing the bike to veer left into the median. the front tire goes over the concrete curb and into the dirt at 45mph. this is where it gets bad..................
the dirt grabs the front tire and digs in hard, and makes the bike come to an immediate stop, launchin me from the bike. i fly off the seat and slam into the ground, actually lose of mh shoes and come to a rest about 15ft away from the bike. i was in complete shock at wat had just happened and couldnt move. immediately, people came to my aid and i was taken to UCD med center where i was released a few hours later...............
the aftermath: swollen right hand, road rash on my right arm, a baseball size lump in my hip and residual shock which is still going on today. my bike is at the shop right now with fairing damage, cracked tank and a bent swingarm. overall, i got away with little injury and am lucky to be writing this story........not too mention my wifey yelled her friggin head off at me for getting in an accident, but, now shes watchin after me soo i can ride again............

stupid people can expletive you. Happend to me a few months ago. I am still recovering...but also riding again.
Be safe

Sounds like a typical newbie accident. No disrepect or anything, this happens all the time. Ignorant people who don't watch what their doing in thier 6 thousand pound trucks own newbie riders. Be more aware of your surroundings next time.
And carry ball bearings in your pocket... someone gets out of line. Lob one of those through their windshields.

Haha yeah, like I said, no offense. Friend of mine got hit by a work truck, guy did the same thing that he did to you except my friend did a front flip and almost got crushed between the truck and a guard rail. I've come close but got myself out of it. (Knock on wood)

thats cool man. just dont ride with fear, ride with confidence. you had a situation happen that was an "accident". and it is just that, **** happens, and the key is learning what happened and learning from the experience and becoming a better rider because of it.

Not too be an *******, but if you would have bought something besides a race rep for a first bike, something with less touchy brakes, you probably wouldn't have been going through this now.
Good example for when people say "I'll be responsible and won't ride over my limits". You don't have to ride over your limits to make a noob mistake.
And dirt riding doesn't really apply to street riding. the brakes and techniques on a dirt bike are no where close to a race rep.

someone needs to design some contraption that will drop ball bearing right at the tip of your exhaust, which are so perfectly aimed for windshields of dumbasses.... its possible, i mean hey, those diet coke/mentos guys did it with mentos, so someone go design one to fit onto the back of exhausts.....

Then you should be used to riding in the dirt!
Glad you're alright, and hope you're back on 2 wheels soon.

You're calling other drivers ignorant and you're throwing ball bearings at cars? Pot, kettle...

not to give you guys ideas but we used to carry around pin ***** to toss. I don't do this anymore I just avoid issues like some guy slicing over and causing ME to take myself out by paying more attention and riding either more aggressively or more slowly based on what the situation is. short of some guy side swipping me most of these recent instances sounded like they could have been avoided.

1. the bike had nothing to do with this wreck. even if i was on a **** 250 ninja, it would have been the same outcome. also, it human reactions that we cant control and thats what makes street riding dangerous
2. very true about ur 2nd statement. most accidents happen at lower speeds statistically(sp?)
3. riding trails taught me a few things. it taught me about analyzing hazards in the dirt (fallen trees, large dips) and in a small way applies to street riding. one day the roads could be clear and the next day, they could have debris or oil or who knows on them.......
just my .02, no disrespect.

In all actuality the bike geometry has a lot to do with controlability. sport oriented bikes dont do well in adverse conditions, hence trying to keep them out of those conditions in the first place

+1 The geometry on sport bikes make them unstable at lower speeds. Slow right hand turns (think crosswalk intersections) are generally less stable than a swooping left hand turn on the same intersection.
My friend's cruiser is very stable at lower speeds (think police cruiser). I can zig zag and weave thru parking lots and stopped traffic better than any sport bike.
Fact is, this accident could've been avoided. I learned to not do and do quite a lot of things while riding. One of them is give everyone a **** load of space. Make my self visible by getting into people visual range, not tailgating, and avoiding asshat drivers.
During traffic and rush hour, people tend to squeeze into any spot that opens up. I either don't let an opening happen near me or I split lanes between cars. Riding between cars is great because people don't really try to change lanes into another car usually.
