Tokico Illumina (5way) install/questions and the rest of my day.....(long)
Ive waited approximately 2 months to get my shocks from Options Auto Salon because "theyr'e back ordered." I finally get to go pick them up in Azusa. Boy do they have a nice facility, warehouse is huge, offices are nice.
While I was waiting for "Will call" I peeped through a plexiglass window and saw how much inventory they have. Parts for days! After waiting about 45 minutes for my parts. I go home.
Okay, I spent approximately 3hrs to install my new Tokico shocks. Not bad considering I was working with STRICTLY hand tools. Just the basic ratchet, wrenches, etc.
After installing the shocks, I notice that my backend sits a HAIR higher than what it used to be at. Im currently running Skunk2 coilovers. Is this normal? Or do you think my previous (originals) have gone bad?
Adjusting the firmness, I know 1 is the softest and 5 is the hardest. Here is where Im COMPLETELY dumbfounded. It keeps turning and NEVER stops. Does that mean I have to match EACH revolution to the exact number, cause if you do, Im screwed. I kept on turning and turning it like the KONI's thinking it would reach a stopping point, but instead, kept revolving.
I "set it up" at 5 Front and 4 Back.
So I head for Aqua Dulce Road off the 14. I am honest to admit but hard to believe I was doing the speed limit 70+mph while all the AV traffic was heading home @ 80+mph. I see a CHP cruising behind my tail. Why is he tailing me? I dont know, my car is COMPLETELY stock looking with the exception of it being lowered. I do not have an aftermarket exhaust or anything flashy to start off with. So after he a few seconds of tailing me, he decides to be a jerk and cruise in my blind spot (luckily I have those blind spot mirrors on my side view mirrors). Got annoyed pretty fast so I tap my brakes to give him a dirty look. He then turns away fast enough to where I couldnt engage eye contact. (Yes, I have guts and probably shouldnt be doing that but Im offensive driver)
He speeds up a few 100yds ahead of me, so I take my exit. Canyon's here we come! I took this whole road at 10-15+ higher than posted speed limit. I feel comfortable to say that it could of handled more. So after tearing up this road up, the SAME CHP got on my ***, from NO where.
So Im sweating bullets "aww damn, he's gonna write me a ticket.....WAIT....he didnt clock me, he must of been going just as fast if not faster because he missed MY exit......"
So I turn a left, he then decides to follow me, almost to a point to where I slammed my brakes hard enough at 35mph, he would rear end me. After giving me a hard time, he eventually turns off the dirt shoulder to bust a U. "PHUCKER!"
Shock Results - Feels alot better and gives me more confidence in turns, Im not not sure if this is pyschological or not, Ill wait til BW this Friday!
At this point, Ive decided to not abuse my luck and head to the grocery store. After Im done shopping, I pull out of Albertons, that SAME ****** cop drives by and had an astonished and dumba$$ look on his face.
I understand what cops have to do, but why do they have to pick on us, especially the ones that appear to be "stock?"
Sorry its so long, just felt like exercising my fingers. Any feedback on the shock setup is greatly appreciated.

I "set it up" at 5 Front and 4 Back.
I would set it up the other way, 4 front and 5 rear, so you get the back end a bit stiffer. This will make the car more neutral as the integra understeers.
I already have the ITR rear sway bar. It oversteered too much with it on. Now that its 5-4, it look away from the understeer a little. Thanks for the feedback.
