Default I need some regular, boring tires.

It has been almost forever since I bought a tire that wasn't either an R-compound or the stickiest, get every tenth out of them street tire. But I now need some tires whose only job will be to last and drive me and all my gear to the tracks to play. These are going on my ITR.

Can anybody recommend a regular tire for my that they have been happy with? Please, no Azenis responses...

I've been using Yok ES100's for awhile. They are a bit on the noisy side though. We just put Kumho SPT's on the other car and have been pretty happy with them too. Both are on B13 Sentras.

I got a set of ricer Nitto Neo gens, thinking they were going to be horrible. (they were cheap, paid 350 or so installed for 4 16 inchers)

They are great in rain, not sensitive to negative camber (made for it) and last a good
while with normal driving. (around 280 tread wear) They also squeal when you reach the limit of the tire, which is a good alarm for me!

Kumho ecsta ASX through multiple suggestions. For the price(tirerack.com about 54 each, might still have 40.00 rebate)

They honestly drive great in the wet, and even in the dry they feel good. No snow on them, and only about 2000 miles so far, but wear appears good.

If its only daily driving i would recommend the falken ziex. They are a very quiet tire, soft side wall, and have a high treadwear (400 on some sizes). The don't have any performance in them so don't expect that. I remember i bought a set in 195-60-15 for 39 bucks a piece from edge racing a while back. good luck.

+1 for the ziex 512's.

all season rated for those impromptu snowboarding trips in the ITR, really really cheap, and decent life.

I was going to suggest the Ziex's too. Good tire.

My suggestion for daily driving is a good all-season. I live in the South, but I do occasionally travel to the North, and I don't want to have to worry about my max performance summer tires turning to blocks of ice if it happens to turn cold while I'm up there.

Based on price and reviews, I wanted to try the Ecsta ASX, but at the time they didn't make it in my size (195/60r14). I've had a couple sets of BFG Traction T/A and have been happy with them. Not the cheapest, but not too expensive, and good dry traction for an all-season.

I'm running a set of Toyo Proxes 4 on my GSR for daily use. They're relatively quiet, have good wet grip, and are M+S rated so I'm not afraid to head to the mountains for a ski trip. The main reason I got them, though, is because they have very soft sidewlls, and I was looking to recover some of the ride quality that my autocross suspension robbed the car of. They definately ride better and quieter than the RT-615 Azenis I had on the car before them, which are now reserved for auto-x and HPDE use.

I'm SURE SURE SURE Ken Sax will chime in at some point here.

I have a grudge against the name Ziex, because I had the summer version Ziex ZE502 that sucked (IMO). I haven't hear people complain about the Ziex 512 for what they are though.

For snow and general cold weather capability, I was impressed with the Pilot Alpin's. They were a lot like really soft all-seasons, I mean, they had good freezing dry traction even after 5 years of use.

Good luck in your all-season search (presuming it's all-season)

regular tire? dunlop sport a2

cheaper tire? yokohama h4

i would vouch for both for daily drivers, without performance aspirations.

Well, the first question is what seasons/weather you will be using these in. If you will be using them only in moderate to warm weather (i.e. spring through fall in CO), then you ought to get a summer tire. If you will be using them in snow and cold as well as the rest of the year, then get all-season tires. If you are going to the track only in the snow, then you can get the winter tire Chris suggested.

For summer tires, this previous post is a good summary of the best options available in 15" sizes for the ITR. Briefly, the Azenis is good for those looking for dry performance only, and the Kumho Ecsta SPT is an awesome deal if you're looking for a more practical combination of dry performance, wet performance, treadlife, and price; the price is exceptionally low even before considering the $40 rebate that's still going on through the end of the year.

For all-seasons, most of the tires mentioned above (particularly the Ziex ZE-512) are just crap. There are some very good all-season tires on the market now, including the Kumho Ecsta ASX, Pirelli PZero Nero M+S, and Bridgestone Potenza RE960 A/S. The Kumho comes with a bargain price (again, even before considering the rebate) that makes it my number one recommendation among all-seasons.
