Default Looks Vs. Speed

To me hears what i think about this. Looks over speed. Unless you wanna race ur car on the track why go all-out in engine mods? If you do youll wind up in my shoes with a huge *** ticket in your hand for racing. Plus if you go show ull grab some attention. Who cares if your car does the 1/4 mile in 12. The average man shouldn't waste his money doing such a thing.

Notice you are in the Type-R forum. We don't own family sedans. Our cars were specifically designed to be a performance variant and most of us track our cars in some form or another.

If you knew anything about Type-R's you would know that attention is the last thing we want.

Spend your money the way you want... after all this is America.

Oh, wait... you're a Canadian, sorry.

Anyway... for me... I choose driving fast. Do I need a $1000 header to drive fast? No. Do I need an appropriate place? Yes.

There has got to be a happy medium somewhere although if you own a Type R I guess speed/handling was more important to you otherwise wouldnt you have gone and bought an LS and saved the extra $$$ to be spent on looks???

That said there are alot of people out there that make me cringe by putting bigole heavy A$$ wheels on their ITR's and Fu(king up their suspension Geo by dumping without camber caster correcting etc...........I mean props to you if thats what you are into but I sold my civic Si wit big *** wheels and dumped etc etc to get into something quick ie my 00 ITR

Well I have best of both worlds gutted interior and fast car but IS300 grey paint on the outside with some JDM parts. Gets the looks and can woop on some *** at the same time. I think show is a wast of time to me why put all the money into a car you cant drive without worrying about braking a kit or chipping your paint or worse getting wrong attention and getting your car jacked.

But do as you will. either way it up to u what u want. But i like a functional car get out what u put in Speed and cornering is what I need and have

I think underrated99si said it best. Why not have both? I am more into going fast, but why not have a car that looks good. I could go with out the attention.

As long as the show aspects of your car don't affect the go then go for it, i figure if you got a type-r you already have the go aspect reasonably well covered and if you don't have the cash necessary to go ***** out w/ i/h/e and cams and stuff(why waste your money on mods w/ minor gains when you can just get a smsp system) a shift **** is a lot cheaper. -rob

Why would a guy with a camaro come to this board and preach against making your car fast?

Mark... who shakes his head and is glad he doesn't live in Alberta

Theres a balance.

All speed = 1990 mustang with a blown and stroked 351, with nitrous. Big tires in back, skinny in front, and a big belt buckle.

All show = Pick your favorite rice mobile with its "type-r" stickers and 4foot airplane wing, and 300lbs of unpainted body kit..

Happy medium = ITR

Problem is kids now days don't know what a cool car looks like. Whens the last time you saw a cool "modified" new car. I haven't seen one ever.

whatever body kit, rims, lights, paint, tv's you have, noting looks better than having your hazards on infront of a LS1.

The ITR looks good the way it is and is plenty fast off the assembly line. No need for improvement in the looks or speed department .
